NSCA CERTIFIED STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING SPECIALIST
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes to improve athletic performance. They conduct sport-specific testing sessions, design and implement safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs, and provide nutrition and injury prevention guidance.
The strength and conditioning profession involves combined competencies for applying sport/exercise science, administration, management, teaching, and coaching. To become NSCA certified, strength and conditioning specialists must show a deep understanding of the basics of exercise science, such as a knowledge of the structure and function of the body, biomechanics, bioenergetics, and hormonal responses to exercise, body adaptations to different types of training, as well as age- and sex-related differences and their implications for different types of training. Furthermore, a CSCS must know the psychology of athletic preparation, nutrition strategies to improve performance, and performance-enhancing substances and methods. The practical/applied knowledge expected from a CSCS includes selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of appropriate fitness tests, followed by designing training programs that improve strength, speed, power, agility, endurance, flexibility, balance, and other athletic characteristics. Knowledge of different periodization models and injury prevention, rehabilitation, and reconditioning principles is obligatory. Finally, knowledge of facility design, layout, and organization, and numerous legal issues related to the CSCS profession, are essential.
ACE CERTIFIED MEDICAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST
ACE ORTHOPEDIC EXERCISE SPECIALIST
An ACE Certified Medical Exercise Specialist (CMES) has the knowledge, training, and experience to work with clients who currently have or are at risk of developing one or more health conditions, such as cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, or musculoskeletal disorders and diseases (CHD, hypertension, blood lipid disorders, asthma, COPD, metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, arthritis, osteoporosis, low back pain, postural and gait disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, pregnancy, etc.). A CMES has expertise in conducting assessments and designing comprehensive health and fitness programs to help clients prevent and manage the disease, avoid injuries, improve overall wellness, function throughout all phases of medical interventions, and return to desired activities following rehabilitation. A CMES applies principles of exercise science, health coaching, nutrition, psychology, corrective exercise, therapeutic exercise, and pathophysiology to develop health and fitness programs for special-population clients with clinical issues to facilitate lasting behavioral change and improve client health, function, and well-being.
An ACE Orthopedic Exercise Specialist works with clients with musculoskeletal issues, injuries, or orthopedic conditions. The role of an ACE Orthopedic Exercise Specialist involves assessing and designing exercise programs tailored to meet the specific needs and limitations of individuals with orthopedic concerns. These concerns may include joint pain, post-surgery recovery, muscle imbalances, arthritis, and other orthopedic conditions.
NASM CORRECTIVE EXERCISE SPECIALIST
A NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) is an expert in human movement assessment. A CES analyzes a client's movement patterns, identifies overactive and underactive muscle groups and compensations, and determines the root cause of imbalances and faulty movement patterns that lead to posture, balance, and total body coordination issues. Once the assessment process is over, a CES creates programs that optimize clients' ability to move, perform exercises correctly, and reduce tissue tension caused by the load put on the body via training.
iTPA CERTIFIED TENNIS PERFORMANCE SPECIALIST
The International Tennis Performance Association is a worldwide education and certification organization for coaches and specialists passionate about tennis-specific performance enhancement and injury prevention. A Certified Tennis Performance Specialist (CTPS) is a strength and conditioning specialist with a deep understanding of tennis, enabling them to design tennis-specific assessments and training programs for developing the athletic abilities of tennis players of all ages and levels. A CTPS knows the most common tennis-related injuries and knows to design tennis-specific injury prevention programs. Furthermore, a CTPS understands the effects of different environmental factors on a tennis player's body, as well as their specific nutritional needs. Finally, a CTPS understands fatigue and recovery in tennis and can maximize a player's performance by choosing adequate periodization models in each phase of that player's career.
ATSS CERTIFIED TENNIS SPEED SPECIALIST
Certified Tennis Speed Specialists (CTSS) are sports performance coaches trained to perform tennis-specific movement assessments and design tennis-specific drills to improve a player’s speed, power, and agility. A CTSS aims to improve tennis players’ overall athleticism by teaching them foundational movement patterns related to speed (linear acceleration, linear max velocity, lateral shuffle, lateral run, backpedaling, hip turn to retreat, jumping, and landing), but also to improve the player’s tennis-specific footwork. A CTSS understands the importance of helping players manage their mass and momentum when slowing down or changing directions and thus places great emphasis on teaching players how to position their body parts appropriately, to effectively decelerate and stay balanced, and how to reposition the body parts properly to create effective push-off angles when reaccelerating. Proper and fast footwork helps the player get to any ball on time and perform more powerful and precise strokes.
RACQUETFIT CERTIFIED SPECIALIST
RacquetFit is a specialized approach that focuses on assessing and optimizing the biomechanics and movement patterns of athletes who play racquet sports such as tennis. It aims to improve a player's performance, prevent injuries, and enhance overall movement efficiency during their sport. A RacquetFit Certified Specialist has the tools to screen players for any physical limitations quickly, a deep knowledge of how those limitations can affect their performance, and simple guidelines to help get them back on track. This certification is backed up by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA).
BAILEY TENNIS FOOTWORK COACH
https://baileytennisfootwork.com/about
The Bailey Method identifies and provides solutions to the most common problems associated with movement, footwork, and balance when playing tennis. A player is taught how to get Ready, Read, React, Respond, and Recover on every ball. The Bailey Method Certified Coach teaches players basic and advanced ready steps, footwork necessary to move towards the ball, different hitting stances, balance moves, brake, and recovery steps.
DNS CERTIFIED EXERCISE TRAINER
A Certified Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization Exercise Trainer (DNSET) is a health, fitness, or sports professional who has satisfactorily completed the required DNS Exercise Training coursework and demonstrated competency in both knowledge and skill execution in the application of the DNS Exercise assessment and training principles. A DNSET understands the basic principles of developmental kinesiology and the relationship between development during the first year of life and dysfunction of the locomotor system in adulthood. A DNSET is trained to evaluate and correct poor respiratory patterns, assess the integrated stabilizing system of the spine, and incorporate corrective exercises, based on the DNS functional tests and developmental positions (supine, prone, low kneeling, oblique sit, quadruped, tripod, bear, squat, lunge, step up and its modifications). A DNSET is trained to apply DNS principles to the training of sport-specific movement patterns, as well as to the injury prevention and rehabilitation programs.
